e started investigating the history of the surname Clavell in the late 1960's when we became aware that it was believed to be of English origin. Since our family traces back its ancestry to a Francesch Clavell, born in 1655 in Catalunya, Spain, our curiosity was aroused by this possible British connection.

The research is by no means over yet, but we feel we have enough information to present the main Clavell branches, in Catalunya, Puerto Rico, and England. We'd like to encourage other Clavell families around the world to tell us their family's history and ancestry: maybe we'll be able to piece the puzzle together!
